Emily Alvale MD is a family physician who has worked in primary care for the last seven
years and is excited to join the direct primary care practice. Dr. Alvale grew up in Salem,
Oregon and attended college at the University of Chicago, where she studied liberal arts
with a major in biology. Prior to attending medical school, she worked as a receptionist
for a year at a physical therapy office, which helped her gain understanding of the other
aspects of a healthcare environment. She attended Oregon Health and Sciences
University and was captured by the mission of family medicine as a way to support the
wellbeing of individuals, families, and their communities. She completed residency at
Family Medicine of Southwest Washington at PeaceHealth.

 

After the core rotations of medical school and residency were completed, Dr. Alvale
pursued interests in global health with trips to Niger and Cameroon on medical
missions. She was given the opportunity to complete and OB fellowship for a year in
preparation for a move to Kenya. Through the global health missions branch of
Samaritan’s Purse, Dr. Alvale served at a mission hospital in Chogoria, Kenya for two
years. During that time, she taught family medicine to East African residents while
treating patients in adult medicine, pediatrics, and obstetrics. In Kenya she met her
other half, William, and the two married in her last year of practice there. Together they
moved to Oregon, where Emily began practice at Santiam Hospital and Clinics. This
year they welcomed another daughter to their family.

Outside of doctoring, Dr. Alvale enjoys life in the great outdoors and classical music.
