January at Main Street Family Medicine: A Healthy Start to the New Year
The new year is here, and at Main Street Family Medicine, we’re excited to support you and your family as you build healthy habits for 2026. January is a great time to reset routines, focus on prevention, and set realistic goals that support long-term wellness.
Simple daily habits can make a big difference in how you feel this year. Staying hydrated, prioritizing quality sleep, eating whole foods, moving your body each day, and making time for self-care all help create a strong foundation for health. Small, consistent steps often lead to the biggest changes.
January is also Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, a reminder of the importance of regular screening. Cervical cancer is highly preventable with routine Pap and HPV testing starting at age 21. If you’re unsure whether you’re due for screening, our team is happy to help you schedule and answer any questions.
We’d also like to share an important pertussis (whooping cough) advisory. Cases have increased significantly nationwide, and vaccination remains the best protection—especially for infants. Pregnant individuals, family members, and caregivers are encouraged to stay up to date on Tdap vaccines to help protect the most vulnerable.
For families, we’re continuing to share guidance on healthy media use for children. Focusing on high-quality content, setting screen-free times, and encouraging play, rest, and connection can help support healthy development.
Looking ahead, our Full Plate Living Group Class is underway, and we’re excited to continue offering this supportive, high-fiber, whole-food approach to nutrition. We also look forward to our upcoming Book Club this spring, where we’ll explore simple, sustainable habits together.
Please note that our clinic will be closed Monday, January 19, 2026, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. An on-call provider will still be available by phone if needed.
Thank you for trusting us with your care. We’re honored to walk alongside you in the year ahead and look forward to supporting your health goals in 2026.
