June at Main Street Family Medicine: Summer Safety & Staying Healthy
Summer is here, and at Main Street Family Medicine, we’re focused on helping you and your family stay safe, healthy, and active all season long. Whether you’re spending time outdoors, traveling, or enjoying local lakes and rivers, a few simple precautions can make a big difference.
As temperatures rise, it’s important to remember that swimming in rivers and lakes is very different from swimming in a pool. Cold water, strong currents, sudden drop-offs, and hidden hazards can pose serious risks. Wearing a life jacket, avoiding fast-moving water, and never swimming alone are simple ways to stay safe while enjoying the outdoors.
June also brings seasonal challenges like allergies and sun exposure. Limiting time outside during high pollen days, showering after outdoor activities, and using HEPA filters indoors can help reduce allergy symptoms. When heading outside, remember to wear sunscreen, protective clothing, and reapply SPF regularly to protect your skin during peak sun hours.
We’d also like to remind families about the importance of prevention when it comes to childhood illness. With a safe and effective vaccine available, health experts strongly discourage intentional exposure to chickenpox due to the risk of serious complications and spreading illness to vulnerable individuals.
Finally, Best of Clark County voting is now open through June 19! Thanks to your incredible support, Main Street Family Medicine has continued to be recognized as one of Clark County’s top clinics. We’re so grateful for your trust and support each year.
Thank you for being part of the Main Street Family Medicine family. We hope you have a fun, safe, and healthy summer!
