This March, we’re focusing on prevention and awareness at Main Street Family Medicine. March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and it’s an important reminder that early detection truly saves lives.
Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in the United States—but it’s also one of the most preventable. When caught early, the five-year survival rate is over 90%. Screening colonoscopies can detect cancer early and even prevent it by removing precancerous polyps. If you’re due for your annual exam, now is a great time to talk with your provider about the right screening plan for you.
In other March reminders, don’t forget to set your clocks ahead as we “spring forward” into longer, brighter days. It’s also the perfect time to refresh healthy routines and recommit to preventive care.
We’re proud to share that our very own Lindsey Karlsen, FNP, was featured on the front page of The Columbian in an article highlighting measles exposure at Ridgefield High School and the importance of childhood vaccination rates in Clark County. Lindsey continues to advocate for evidence-based prevention and community health, and we’re honored to have her representing Main Street Family Medicine.
