September at Main Street Family Medicine: Keeping Kids Healthy This School Year
September is here, and with school back in session, we’re helping families navigate the start of a healthy school year. With children spending more time together, illnesses can spread quickly, so knowing when to keep your child home can help protect your family and classmates.
If your child has a fever of 100.4°F or higher, vomiting or diarrhea, trouble breathing, significant pain, an unexplained rash, or unusual tiredness, it’s best to keep them home and monitor their symptoms. Encourage plenty of rest and fluids, and don’t hesitate to contact us if your child’s symptoms are worsening or you have concerns.
We also want to remind families about measles prevention. Measles can cause serious complications, especially in babies and young children. The MMR vaccine provides safe, long-lasting protection, so talk with your healthcare provider to make sure your child is protected.
We’re also excited to welcome Rachael to the Main Street Family Medicine team! Rachael is a registered nurse with a passion for holistic care and global health, and we’re so happy to have her as part of our team.
Please note that our office will be closed Monday, September 7, for Labor Day. For non-urgent needs, you can email us or leave a voicemail, and we’ll get back to you during regular business hours the following day.
