This November, we’re celebrating gratitude, connection, and health at Main Street Family Medicine. As the holiday season begins, it’s the perfect time to focus on wellness—both physical and emotional—so you can enjoy every moment with the people who matter most.
Thanksgiving is a season of joy (and delicious food!), but it can also be a challenge to stay on track with healthy habits. A few mindful choices can make a big difference: start the day with a protein-rich breakfast, take a walk with family before and after your meal, and savor your food slowly. Choose small portions of your favorite holiday dishes, alternate alcoholic drinks with sparkling water, and aim to maintain your weight through the holidays rather than lose it. Most importantly, remember that the heart of Thanksgiving is connection—make family and friendship the centerpiece of your celebration.
We’re also excited to celebrate National Direct Primary Care (DPC) Day on November 1, 2025! DPC is a membership-based healthcare model that replaces insurance hassles with personalized, direct relationships between patients and providers. Starting January 1, 2026, new legislation will even allow Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) to cover DPC memberships. At Main Street Family Medicine, this model means you can text, call, or email your provider directly—even after hours—without waiting weeks for an appointment. We believe healthcare should be simple, personal, and centered around you.
To help us spend even more time with our patients, we’ve started using Heidi, a secure note-taking tool that assists with documentation during visits. Heidi automatically deletes all data after processing, keeping your medical information safe and private while allowing our team to focus on what matters most—your care.
We also invite you to support Annie, RN, as she completes her Family Nurse Practitioner degree and leads a project to improve cancer screening rates at Main Street. Your feedback is incredibly valuable! Please take a moment to complete our quick, anonymous survey—your input helps shape better preventive care for our community. As a thank-you, you can enter a drawing for $25 gift cards to Compass Coffee or Starbucks.
Lastly, for those wanting to stay informed about public health in our state, the Washington Department of Health has launched an online Measles Exposure Dashboard to help track potential exposures. View the dashboard here.
From our family to yours, thank you for being part of the Main Street community. We wish you a joyful, healthy Thanksgiving!
